I remember a couple of years go that there was a women that was at the sale and she was very pregnant. Actually she ended up going into labor while waiting for the doors to open. You would think that she would have left for the hospital, oh no she didn't. She didn't end up going to the hospital until she was all doing with her shopping.
Crazy story uh. It is true. I have worked the resale for the last 12 years and I can tell you some whoppers. Just about every story you hear is true.
You probably wonder why I do this every year. I can tell you why, it is to watch all these crazy women go after these purses. My favorite time of the resale is on the first day the one open to the public. Just to watch all these women coming pouring in the doors and running towards tables is an amazing site to see.
I still am not 100 % sure what attracts all these women to the sale. Now don't get me wrong, I have some Vera Bradley purses and my daughter had some before she could say Vera, but I still wonder why.
Everyone needs to experience at least one sale. I will guarantee that you will not forget it for some time to come.

Vera Bradley
It is that time of year again. The Vera Bradley outlet sale is back.
Has anyone heard of Vera Bradley? I guess that is a stupid question. Maybe the question should be who hasn't heard of Vera Bradley?
This is a big company that originated in Fort Wayne. The company was formed by two women, Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard. These two women took a idea that they had while sitting in an airport and made it the American Dream.
The company is very committed to the Fort Wayne area and has raised thousands of dollars for breast cancer awareness. They not only do this with the resale but also as a golf outing and several other activities.
The outlet sale as been going on for 26 years and for the past 18 they have been in the Memorial Coliseum.
Each year thousands of women come to have the opportunity to buy the product at a significant percent off from what it goes for in retail stores.
I am sure you have seen the news stories about the women that line up the night before just so that they can be one of the first ones in. You have also heard the stories of women who wait until the last day and then buy bags and bags of purses just because they are discounted even more.
You may ask yourself why women line up for this purses? I don't have an answer for that. We can only wonder.

Chapter 3 Senge (Beer Game)
Did anyone else that it would be common sense not to panic when you run out and that if your orders run 4 wks behind, what is the point of upping your order every week?
If your orders are behind that many weeks, has it accrued to anyone to pick up a phone and call to see if you could possibly get any extra on the next shipment? It seems to me that it would make more sense to pick up the phone instead of upping your order that could be up to 8 weeks away.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Employment Portfolio
The employment portfolio is a good thing to have. It does take a lot of work but it could be the thing that gets you that job.

Employment Portfolios
It will be interesting to do the Autobiography that is due for this project. I am not a person that likes to 'toot their own horn'. I know it is necessary when you are trying to impress a company so that they will pick you instead of the number's of others that have also applied for the same position.
The personal vision will also be a struggle but it sounds like I won't be the only one that will struggle on this aspect of the report.
I am not to concerned about the resume section, I already have one and it is fairly up to date, it will still need to be polished and updated a little more to be what the professor is looking for.
Does anyone know what the group project is suppose to be on?

Now that spring break is done, it is time to get back into the swing of things. Term is almost over and the final crunch is coming.
We are starting our Employment Portfolios, with the first assingment due next week. Next week we will be starting our group projects. Groups have been set and the excitement is mounting.
Hopefully are group will work well together and we will do well on the project.

Eight special women in accounting
Did you know there is eight women that are the fore leaders in accounting. They are Christine Ross, the first women to sit for the CPA exam given in New York state.
Helen Lord who was a partner with her father in 1937 and also was the business manager of The Woman CPA in the late 1940's.
Helen Hifner Fortune, one of the 1st women CPA's In Kentucky (1935)
Ellen Libby Eastman, recieved her certificate (no. 37) in 1918 and was also the 1st women to establish a public accounting practice in New England.
Mary E Murphy, was the first women to receive her CPA in Iowa (no. 67). She taught in the United States and aboard retiring in 1973.
Mary E Lewis, received her CPA in 1939 annd had her own firm in LA by 1947.
Miriam Donnelly, was the head librarian of the AIA library, which was later named AICPA.
